Back to School
Summer has been and gone in the blink of an eye and what would normally be a mere 6 long weeks with your little darlings at home has instead been 6 looooong, tedious and challenging months. But now the new uniform has been purchased, the hell of school shoe shopping has been conquered and stationary supplies have been restocked and they are packed off to school for the start of another school year. And breathe............
September is one of my favourite months as it is not only back to school time but it's the start of a new season. The weather is starting to turn, the nights are starting to draw in and I'm thinking ahead to cosy knitwear and winter boots. However, I'm not quite ready to pack away my entire summer wardrobe and want to get maximum wear out of some of my key pieces (which is what we're all about here at MWW) and this time of year is all about the transition into a new season. So how can you stretch your summer wardrobe out for a few more weeks? Here are some ideas for you to switch up your summer look for a more autumnal vibe.
Swap your sandals for some ankle boots for a really quick and easy way to change your look. If it's warm enough then go for bare legs but if not then don't be afraid to don the tights.
Layer! Layering is perfect for this time of year. Either add a layer underneath or over the top, the choice is yours. Layering a jumper over a dress is a great way to get a different look, changing your dress to a skirt. You can either go for a slim fit jumper for a more feminine feel or as the weather gets colder opt of a chunky knit for a more laid back look. Alternatively dig out that little biker jacket as this is the time of year when a biker jacket will be enough to keep you warm and pretty much works with any outfit.
And finally, layering a shirt dress over skinny jeans or leather leggings is one of my favourite transitional looks. I know I featured this look last week but it's a look really does work well for so many occasions and will really give you that extra wear from your favourite shirt dresses.
So don't be too hasty in packing away those light summer clothes, think about how you can really get the most out of everything in your wardrobe to get maximum wear from your clothes.
